Explore the Wild World of Bonobos
Our New Monthly Blog!
We’re thrilled to introduce the Bonobo Blog, a new monthly series from the heart of the Kokolopori Bonobo Reserve!
Each month, biologist Phoenix Lester will share stories, insights, and the latest discoveries from our bonobo research program, led by Harvard University in cooperation with local partner Vie Sauvage. It’s a rare chance to see the world through the eyes of wild bonobos and the scientists who study them.
Our first post dives into a surprising scene: a bonobo hunt for a flying squirrel. Unlike chimpanzees, who form organized hunting parties, bonobos approach hunting in a more spontaneous and opportunistic way.
Delve into the story—and stay tuned for new posts each month that bring you closer to these incredible beings and efforts to protect their forest home.
Thank you for standing with us to protect bonobos and the remarkable forest communities they depend on. Every story we share reveals more about their capacity for peace, problem-solving, and connection—a reflection of the best in ourselves. Together, we can ensure that their voices continue to echo through the Congo Basin for generations to come
