4 new groups at Kokolopori
We are excited to share the news that four new groups of bonobos have been identified in the Kokolopori Bonobo Reserve! The local communities themselves with support and leadership from Vie Sauvage, have discovered four bonobo groups in the southern sector of the reserve.
Recently, our bonobo monitoring efforts have been focused to the north where our long-term research program with Harvard University continues to thrive—and produce illuminating results. (Stay tuned for our next Bonobo Blog post!)
We are urgently seeking funding and support to keep our community forest teams going strong!
Funds are needed to fully equip, pay, and sustain 4 tracking teams, (40 people), as well as for data management, satellite communications, shipping and logistics. It takes a lot to protect bonobos in the far reaches of the Congo forest and our community partners are the key. Please show your support. Even a little bit goes a long way.
Long live bonobos! Long live the Congo forest!
