PROTECTING BONOBOS — PRESERVING RAINFOREST — EMPOWERING PEOPLE

COVID-19 and the Congo rainforest

COVID-19 is everywhere: on the news, on social media, and in every corner of the globe. It has now reached the Democratic Republic of Congo, and President Félix Tshisekedi has declared a national state of emergency. In the face of a global pandemic, it's good to know there is something you can do right now to help.

BCI is working to protect some of the most vulnerable communities on Earth. By supporting our field teams, you can help them get the supplies they need to survive this terrible crisis. They in turn will continue protecting the bonobos, who are themselves highly susceptible to human respiratory viruses. One of our primary missions is to stop bushmeat hunting. COVID-19 is one of several dangerous diseases that has likely spread from animals to human populations. Bushmeat hunting is a key vector for zoonotic (cross-species) infection and must be stopped. Containment is key right now, and every little bit of help can have huge benefits.

Please consider supporting this lifesaving work through GlobalGiving's Little by Little campaign.

All donations under $50 will be matched at 50%. So, a $50 donation instantly becomes $75, which will go directly to supporting our teams in the rainforest. The campaign runs until Friday, March 27th at 11:59PM ET.

We are thinking of you during these difficult times. Thank you so much for your support.
