Rebecca Bossen McHugh, Communications Director

Rebecca has served as communications director for the BCI since 2011. She received her undergraduate degree from Duke University and her graduate degree from Northwestern University, as well as an Advanced Certificate from the Central School of Speech and Drama in London. She has worked professionally as a writer for over fifteen years, engaging in marketing and outreach for a number of businesses and organizations. She is also a playwright and performer whose work has been seen in venues across the country. Rebecca became entranced by bonobos while taking Biological Anthropology classes at Duke. She is thrilled that her current position allows her to combine her passion for writing with her love of bonobos, and that she can take an active role in educating the public about these amazing great apes.
