Doug has devoted his 35-year career to integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in investment decision making. He has advised pension plans, foundations and endowments, investment consultants, and high net worth clients on adoption of ESG, low-carbon and impact investment strategies. His current focus is on asset owners and corporations that wish to respond to recommendations from the Financial Stability Board’s Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). He is engaged with NGOs and consultants in support of this guidance with corporations and institutional investors. Doug is the author of numerous publications whose results and recommendations have been implemented by top ranked pension funds and investment consultants in the US and Canada. His 1992 book, The Greenhouse Gambit: Business and Investment Implications of Climate Change, was one of the first to explore climate- and policy-related impacts on autos, electric power, forestry and agriculture. This 500-page analysis was funded by the Rockefeller Foundation and published by the Investor Responsibility Research Center. Doug is a graduate of Williams College, with highest honors in Political Economics.
