Save Bonobos. Save the Earth. Save Ourselves.

Across the globe, millions of people are celebrating Earth Day in honor of the beautiful planet we call home. It is a day of gratitude for clean air, cool water, and tall trees. But our planet is starting to change. Deforestation, greenhouse gases, and rising temperatures are bringing us to the brink of global crisis. There is still time to protect our planet if we act now.

Did you know that bonobos live in the second largest rainforest on Earth? The Congo rainforest spans over 1.5 million square miles and contains thousands of plant and animal species. It plays such a vital role in the climate’s well-being that it is often called “the second lung of the Earth.” BCI and partners have secured official protection for more than 12,000 square miles of this precious rainforest. Sankuru Nature Reserve alone stores up to 660 million tons of carbon, which if released by deforestation would emit up to 2 billion tons of carbon dioxide, comparable to emissions from 38,000,000 cars per year for 10 years.

By helping to protect the bonobos, we are protecting the rainforest and, ultimately, ourselves. Please make your Earth Day pledge on behalf of bonobos. You can give a one-time gift or make every day Earth Day by becoming a monthly donor. Please make your secure tax-deductible pledge today!
